About the Author

S.E. Bourne is a new face on the flash fiction and poetry landscape, her first release, ‘Every Awful Thing,’ was published to Amazon Kindle on April 1st, 2022, to modest and generous reviews.

Bourne currently has submissions pending acceptance by ‘The New Yorker’ and ‘The American Scholar’ and will also be publishing two additional chapbooks from her earliest archives.

‘as reflexões’ was and is, as one reviewer noted, something that Bourne wrote one evening, based on listening to two comedians rant on a podcast. These poems are not high art, perhaps not even thought-provoking, but are a record of the author’s absorption of a bantering conversation and a placeholder of her concerns, and black humor.

Let’s face it, 2020 to date has been a real trip.

Bourne has worked as a waitress, cook, chambermaid, laundress, barker, and secretary. Much of her early 20s was spent traveling through the United States and living in hostels with foreigners.

Ms. Bourne once dared an HR lady to fire her by crossing her feet, extending her legs, and putting her gorgeous stacked high-heeled Frye boots on the H.R. executive’s desk, leaning back with her hands behind her head and asking this middling, dull executive; “You said you wanted to speak with me?”

This brash action, no doubt got her fired, but the story was worth it.
