Faces NYE 2023

Faces, faces. This selfie world. I find it grotesque.

Defiant, pouty, happy, sad, wistful, pondering. Stoic, madcap, humorous, pensive, prideful, shy, embarrassed, soulful.

All these faces.

For the love of God – you will never see my real face.

Old, bad skin, yellowing teeth, greying hair, plain Jane.

My photo here is AI. Totally made up.

Has a resemblance to me – but I am not as attractive.

People have always been prideful and vain and there is vigor in that. . .if not rampant.

What we are witness to now in this modern world is seas of faces that we will never know, can’t compare or compete with.

I don’t think we were ever meant to visually be assailed of so many curated faces.

Bring it on 2024.

Pig in a Dragon year. I will either be victorious, stagnant, status quo or devastated.

2023 was a bit stagnant and in fits devastating, but I am victorious in one more trip around on the third rock from the sun.

And if this is all I get – I will take it.

New Year’s Eve always terrifies me life knows nothing of years. now the horns have stopped and the firecrackers and the thunder… it’s all over in five minutes… all I hear is the rain on the palm leaves, and I think, I will never understand men, but I have lived it through.
