Machu Picchu Envy

I have always been very envious of anyone that I encounter, that has been to Machu Picchu.

Machu Picchu represents to me the pinnacle of a place worth going.

Everyone that I have met — that has gone, has been worldly weary and wealthy.

It is the wealthy bit that always sits uneasy with me.

I have no desire for major redistribution of wealth, I know money doesn’t offer salvation, but money gets you to Machu Picchu.

My work friend Peter. He is aware of my spotty education, and the hilarious spectacle of ignorance, that lies just under my semi formed glaze of sophistication.

He knows about the Hors Devors story — which is excellent, and I must write up.

He is aware that basic math is beyond me, and mispronounced words lay in wait to trip me up into high comedy.

It was he that I revealed my envy about Machu Picchu.

Peter also got further preview into the vast blankness of my mind — when I wondered aloud as to how they kept the terraced lawns of Machu Picchu in such good form.

Alas, he didn’t stop my train of thought until I had asked aloud, how the landscaping could have been organized outside of tourist walkabouts, or if one could off chance with bad fortune land there during a great, and noisy grooming.

Lawnmowers, hedgers and leaf blowers at full volume, up in this Dreamtime Citadel in the mountain clouds.
