March 17th, 12:30 pm Fox in the yard
I went out to the patio to smoke a cig and sip on coffee and coco mix,
A smallish fox, all red, stood staring at the fence across to the neighbors on the west.
Standing still as a statue, the middle of the yard with no cover.
It could have seen me in the peripheral, but I was motionless, and it made no glance my way. Just staring at the fence to the yard next door.
Standing still, motionless.
The tail was manged looking, not fluffy. The animal looked a bit thin but not overly sick.
I stood still, watching.
It turned to the right and started a soundless trot to the opening in the fence that borders the back neighbor to the south, leading to a more wooded area.
Soundless and graceful in its prance.
Slipping through the fence opening, round an old tree stump and gone.
