Three(s)
The other night a fat raccoon rolled through the drive as I was on the patio looking at my hillbilly garden and having an evening cig.
I went and got a flashlight to see if any other’s were in the yard. A lone rabbit under the old metal trellis held trapped in the beam playing rabbit.
Then I noticed the wet foot marks of a raccoon going right through the brick patio where I stood.
We must have just missed each other in passing.
Late afternoon today in the heat and overcast, three rabbits were romping in the yard. Seemed a game of chase. Perhaps mating.
Seemed odd to see them so bold in broad daylight. Usually they are only to be seen at dusk or dawn.
They took no notice of me.
There is a new type of bird in the yard this year. It is a dark grey and has mannerisms of a crow and songbird cross. I think it must be some sort of mocking bird. I will have to try and get a picture of it.
I have found one of them watch me on occasion from the patio tree. Looking at me when I am on the stoop or standing at the kitchen sink.
It seems to recognize me.
I suspect it has been eating the slugs and often spy it fluttering and jumping through my grow bags with said hillbilly garden efforts underway.
No tomatoes yet and the cucumbers have partially wilted though a few cukes are growing.
